It's Staph.

So Saturday I saw a physician assistant about my red mass and she said it was either a spider bite or staph and to take an antibiotic and come back on Thursday. I wasn't totally impressed with that place because they didn't do a health history on me (and I've never been there before) and when I went to leave, all the lights were off, etc. so I kinda felt they were just pushing me out the door. Then when I picked up my antibiotic, I asked the pharmacist to confirm that it was safe to take while breastfeeding and he said "Not recommended". So I asked him what would be better and he said there is nothing and to only take it if I absolutely needed it. So I held off until today and tried to get a second opinion with my family doctor. Family doctor was out, so I went to a (different) urgent care. The doctor today said it was without a doubt staph infection and that I definitely needed the antibiotic and that it wouldn't heal without it. So here we go. Hopefully it doesn't affect Brody too much, he said that it would be of more concern if Brody was a preemie or newborn. He said he didn't need to drain it because it was draining on its own (gross, I know). It is contagious, but he said as long as I keep it covered and wash my hands after dressing it, then it should be just fine. If you want to see pics, I put them in the archives under 1/1/01, but I must warn you... my stomach is not a pretty sight when it is infection free and with the infection... well, I wouldn't recommend checking it out. There is just all sorts of crazy things going on around here.

So I wonder if they would consider it a boil?? Glad you had it doubled checked. I think warm compresses (if you have time) may help get it to drain more. Hang in there! I've been worried!

Oh man! That makes ME hurt just looking at it!! Do you know how it started? Hope the antibiotics clear it up soon.
