Ok, so I got my details a little off after I grilled Aaron about it a little more. Apparently, Jacob approached Aaron with the mushrooms already IN HIS HANDS saying "marshmallow". Aaron said he couldn't tell if any had been consumed because it was all broken apart into pieces. Anyways, Aaron didn't think anything of it, told Jacob they were yucky mushrooms and brushed them out of his hands. About an hour or so later the boys came in for dinner and we did NOT wash Jacob's hands before dinner. So who knows if he actually tried some or if just the spores on his hands and then touching his food could have caused a reaction or what.

I called the peds office to see if the bloodwork would have detected mushrooms and she (a nurse) called me back 3 hours later and informed me that the hospital would have only drawn a lab to detect mushrooms if I had told them I suspected mushrooms. Pretty shitty answer in my opinion. A good answer would have been "I checked the lab results and the exact labs drawn were...". An even better answer would have been "The labs drawn were... and the results were...". Yes, we didn't specifically tell the hospital we suspected mushrooms, but the hospital repeatedly asked us about exposure to medications and/or alcohol in the home, so I didn't think it was completely off the wall for them to do a toxicology report in addition to a cbc or something, but I certainly don't feel like I have an accurate answer now because I don't even feel like the nurse checked into it. I should have asked her specifically what labs were drawn to find out exactly, but I wasn't thinking. I did ask her though to order a toxin screen from the lab if there was enough blood left from yesterday. Danielle (Harvitt) works at Munson and informed me that they often don't use the entire sample and the lab keeps it for a few days just for these types of things, so we shall see. The nurse simply replied "uh... ok.. sure...", so I'm a little skeptical. Plus, this was at 5pm, so I'm sure she had one foot out the door at this point. If I sound a little cynical about our peds office, then I am accurately getting my feelings across about them. Anyways, I give it a 50-50 chance that I hear from them again.
Also, here is a pic of the mushrooms in our yard... See them ALL OVER...

Here is one up close, except I broke the top off:
And here are some from the website showing you what the "destroying angel" looks like:

Based on what I read about the Destroying Angel, I would imagine if that's what they are, then Jacob didn't actually eat one. I would think the reaction would've been way worse, especially in a little person. But the theory about him not having washed his hands before dinner definitely sounds plausible to me. Sorry to hear about the peds office reaction though. That was p*ss me off!!!
