Lately, I've been encouraging Jacob to do things independently so that he will be able to do them by himself at Preschool. Things like taking his coat on and off, shoes, getting dressed, etc. Jacob has been loving his newly granted independence. As soon as he woke up the other day, he grabbed a pair of pants out of his dresser and immediately wanted to get dressed all.by.his.self. So I stood by and watched him do it perfectly and we were both very proud. I then advised him to put his PJ's in the laundry room and I proceeded to get breakfast on for them. While I'm getting breakfast together it dawns on me that Jacob is taking awhile with putting his PJ's in the laundry room. That is right about when I heard the washing machine kick on and start filling with water. Jacob often helps me with laundry and knows how to turn it on (shoot, even Brody likes to turn it on all the time and I haven't even been showing him how to do it yet!). I guess that is one disadvantage of having a front loader. Sooo, I should have run into the laundry room and added soap (soap is out of his reach), but I wasn't feeling very motivated so I just let it go. Later in the day I went to check to see what exactly he decided to wash. I expected it was one of two things... either he put JUST his jammies in there or he put his jammies in the washer along with whatever clothes were in the laundry basket waiting to be washed. But, Jacob once again proved that we do NOT think along the same lines. Jacob did indeed wash his pajamas. Along with several other pairs of pants and shorts, however they were not from the laundry basket. I went into his bedroom and discovered he had emptied two drawers full of clean, dry, folded pants and shorts and washed them. Clearly, he must think I only do laundry out of pure boredom and for no purpose of, you know, actually cleaning dirty things. Aye.
In other Jacob news, I learned that his preschool class of 5 three year olds probably won't be happening. The school only has 14 kids enrolled (three's and four's), so they will combine the classes. The only difference will be that 3 year olds will only go two days a week (Weds, Fri) and the 4 year olds will go three days a week (Mon, Weds, Fri). I'm not too excited about the change, I was looking forward to a smaller class size in hopes that it would mean less exposure to colds and flus the next few months. Which I know isn't really all that bad for him to build up immunity prior to kindergarten, but I would rather not have him bringing home illnesses when I'm pregnant or have a newborn. We'll see how it goes... I still don't know exactly when he starts, maybe next week? Thursday we have another meeting, I'm sure I'll figure it out then.

I hope everything works out for Jacob's class...it would be awesome to have only 5 kids, but it's definitely not very economical for the preschool center :(
And Jacob is so funny doing his own laundry. Make sure you take note of this and remind him in 10 years when he claims not to know how to run a washing machine!
