We had a great time over the 4th! On Saturday we went to Adam & Danielle's place for a little bbq on Lake Leelanau with a bunch of people. After a cold week, we didn't know what kind of weather to expect for the 4th, but it turned out beautiful! I forgot my camera again on Saturday, so no pics from then :( Saturday night we just headed home and relaxed! We are saving up for Harbor Days fireworks ;)
Sunday we headed out onto Elk Lake with Mark and Lisa and kids! The water was a tad chilly yet for the kids, so they utilized the inflatables!! This was my first time swimming (and not just wading) this year and it felt GREAT! Elk Lake is so beautiful. Afterwards we had a great dinner at their house and then headed to the parents to finish the day off with some golf. Sunday was also our 6th Anniversary! We didn't do anything special... our "date" was when we had all that alone time when we were stranded in Big Rapids!! Besides that, we are saving up for a big 10 year anniversary trip ;)
Last week was Cherry Festival and we made our way down to enjoy the kids festivities on Wednesday. Kyra bailed on us at the last minute, but Aaron was able to go this year! (Last year he was on call). Aaron enjoyed it a lot more than he thought he would. After the kids activities we took Jacob too the carnival. At first he was afraid to go in and we should have used that as an opportunity to get the heck out of there and save a lot of money, but nooooo we had to encourage him to go in there and have a lot of fun. Unfortunately, Jacob doesn't understand the whole carnival games concept yet. He wants to play the game over and over and over again. So, a ton of money and a screaming toddler later, we were on our way home. Despite the major tantrums, I'm glad we went!
Sarah and her kids were up at their place on Crystal Lake last week too, so we were able to have a couple play dates with them! The weather wasn't nice enough for the kids to play in the water, but they still had a good time together and it was nice to catch up with Sarah.
Camera battery died and I didn't charge it right away, so I don't have any pics of Cherry Fest or Sarah and kids... yikes, I've been slacking!
In baby news..
The appointment went well, except Aaron insisted on coming along with the boys. I already had a rough day with them and was stressed out thinking I can barely handle these two what am I going to do with a third. So what a better way to end that kind of day than to bring a 1 and 3 year old to a doctors office and try to get them to keep still and quiet? Sounds GREAT! Needless to say I don't remember anything about the appointment as far as weight gain, blood pressure, etc. I think Dr. Myers could sense my anxiety level (or maybe it was the blood pressure) because she said (without me saying anything) "it's pretty common to start feeling overwhelmed right about now..." As I fought back the tears. So then came the shocking part. I don't know if this is new office protocol (since my doctor switched practices after Brody) or if Dr. Myers was trying to do me a favor, but they scheduled my big ultrasound for... AUGUST 3RD! I'll only be 18wks then! At first I was thrilled, but then I was freaked out wondering if that is too early. So when I arrived home I did a little googling and everything says "18-20 weeks", so I guess I'll ride with it! Also it makes me feel better knowing the baby was ahead by 5 days last ultrasound. I'm SO excited and I am really hoping the baby looks healthy and cooperates for a gender shot!
