Not too much going on around here... Aaron went to deer camp last weekend. The boys and I hung out and met up with mom and Lisa and boys (while their spouses were at camp as well) for a crazy dinner out. Sunday the boys and I went to Church, then out to lunch with mom. I was relieved when Brody didn't cry when I left him at the nursery, but surprises to see him crying when I picked him up. Apparently another little boy in the group told Brody not to put a toy in his mouth and my sensitive little guy cried and cried! Awwww. Aaron came home from camp late Sunday night, but has been hunting across the river quite a few nights this week without any luck.
I guess Autumn is the main hunter of our family ;) But she had a bit of bad luck last week.. she got into a little fight with something that was just as tough as she was and got a little infection near her right eye. We took her to the vet and she shaved her, lanced and drained her right there and Autumn was such a trooper for it - she didn't even growl or scratch. She's such a nice kitty :) Thankfully they gave her a shot of penicillin so we didn't have to worry about feeding her pills twice a day and she is now 90% recovered.
Roxy also had a vet appointment last week and the news was not good. Our 'little' girl is up to 47lbs now!!! Her ideal weight is 30-35lbs, so we have strict orders from the vet that her food needs to be restricted asap! She has been steadily gaining weight since Jacob began eating solids ("The Toddler Ten") and just kept gaining when Brody began eating solids too. Despite my best efforts to put her in the garage during the boys meal times, she still manages to find snacks. It's definitely not from lack of exercise though, she gets at least a mile run every day and usually much more than that. Poor girl. At least she hides it well with all that fur.
Remember the wanted man lurking around the house before our North Carolina trip? Aaron received a subpoena to show up for his bench trial last Thursday. Aaron was NOT pleased and was even more ticked off after he showed up to Court. The suspect showed, but claimed he had "no idea" he was being charged with anything and needs a lawyer. Oh, and he wants the same lawyer who defended him recently in his other case. And he needed to get going because he had an appointment with his probation officer in Manistee County. Nice. Waste.of.time. Hopefully he pleas to something in the future and Aaron wont have to show up again.
Friday we had Jacob's conference with his preschool teacher. She said he is doing well and very smart and puts things together (or takes them apart) like a little engineer :) He doesn't participate in any of the group activities, but she said that is appropriate for his age. He also refuses to sit on the carpet squares during circle time, he prefers to pull a chair up. I can't say I blame him... I mean why do they have them sit on the floor anyway? Can you imagine showing up for a meeting and someone saying "let's all gather around in a circle on the floor" just strange to me. The other thing that came up that was interesting was that Jacob calls the teacher and a parent helper (who is a grandma) "Mom". I asked him why and he said it was because I wasn't there... awww :(
This weekend was pretty low key... Saturday we went to Aaron's parents for dinner in honor of Thanksgiving. Things went well there, except Brody fell down pretty hard and got a nose bleed. Today was beautiful so went to the park and took a walk and let the kids play at the playground. We picked up a few groceries then headed home to watch the lions win (shocker!) and check out Martin's last race for EGR (9th place!) - we wish him the best with his exciting changes for next season!
Tomorrow we have a Thanksgiving dinner at Jacob's preschool, Tuesday is my ob appointment and Wednesday is parent helper day at the preschool. Aaron will be working on Thanksgiving, so the boys and I will head out to my parents earlier and then Aaron will join us after work.
Hope everyone has a great Holiday week and weekend!
