Pumpkin Patch, Preschool Girlfriend, North Carolina & Fugitive!

Last weekend we took a family trip to a local farm and picked up some pumpkins! Jacob is pumped about halloween this year and lucky for him that means THREE trips to the pumpkin patch (one as a family, one with preschool and one with Sherry when we are in NC if the weather cooperates). I only took a couple pictures, I'll try to take more in NC.

We have a busy week ahead of us- tomorrow we are leaving for North Carolina to visit Sherry and Martin! We will stay overnight in a hotel (because a 13+ hr drive with two small kids and a pregnant woman is too much for one day) and then make it there on Sunday after the race. Martin had a great top 10 finish last week (coming in 9th), let's hope he has another great week! We'll stay, visit, shop, eat, go to pumpkin patch and fish Sunday through Wednesday and then we will head back. Hopefully we'll be home in time on Thursday for Aaron to put a 1/2 day of work in and then Friday and Saturday will be crazy again with the Halloween festivities! I think it will take an entire week for my boys to recover! Fun stuff :)

Speaking of Halloween Festivities, I joined Jacob at his preschool today for some pumpkin carving. Oh, and to meet Jacob's new girlfriend. An adorable little girl named Lexi is quite smitten with my little guy and likes to give him hugs and kisses. Oh, and Jacob is pretty good about returning them. Although his preferred method of flirting is tackling her to the ground - and she doesn't mind at all! Because of the actions of these two, the teacher had to have a talk with the entire class about kissing, germs and flu season. I've got to say, he's done pretty good for his first girlfriend... she is adorable, the best dressed in the class and the sweetest little thing I've met.

And my final update of the night is a crazy one! After arriving home from Preschool I received a call from Aaron advising me to shut our garage and not answer the door. Apparently someone had flipped their truck up the road and the police were looking for him. Aaron said that he wasn't concerned, after all who would run from the police and hide near the DNR? I shut the garage, made sure the doors were locked and pretty much forgot about it until Aaron got home. As Aaron was walking up the driveway he spotted someone sneaking around the vacant residence next door (just a few feet from us), so he shouted to him. And shockingly, the guy didn't run - he stumbled over to our driveway and asked Aaron if he could come in or have a blanket or something. He was very disoriented/intoxicated and soaking wet and dirty as though he had been in the river. Aaron came inside and told me that was the guy the police were looking for, so I started calling the sheriff's department and Aaron went back outside and pointed the guy in the direction of the nearest store. The guy instead walked down our driveway, through the bushes and towards the river when we suddenly lost sight of him. A Sheriff's deputy arrived and joined our neighbor (one of Aaron's coworkers) in a search around the area and across the river. Aaron and his coworker then went to the area where we last saw him (100ft in front of our house and spotted him hiding down at the waters edge. They signaled the officer over and he arrested the hypothermic guy. An ambulance, couple other police cars and the undersheriff then gathered in front of the house, treated the subject and hauled him off. It was an exciting evening to say the least! I'm super relieved they found him though - the thought of leaving our house vacant with this guy on the run was a little unsettling. Although, it's a little unsettling having him know that we turned him in and he knows where we live!

Anyways, North Carolina here we come! Yeah, first road trip in the new van!

Wow! That's a little scary about that guy!! Hopefully he was so drunk he won't remember where he was. :)

Too cute about the girlfriend! Glad he picked the best one. :) Way too funny that the teacher had to talk about kissing and stuff though. :)
