Jacob's pumpkin:
Jacob in Martin's brothers car... he was just a little excited:
We are back from our quick trip to North Carolina! It was brief, but a nice visit :) The drive down wasn't too bad. We stayed overnight in Columbus and everything was going good with that until about 3:50 a.m. when the hotel fire alarm went off. Waking up to a loud chirping noise and bright flash is NOT fun... for us or the kids :( We hung out in the car for 20 minutes until the fire department said it was safe to return, without any real explanation of what the problem was. Aaron and I suspect there might have been some sort of carbon monoxide issue, because we both had bad headaches... but of course an alarm waking you up at 4 in the morning can do that to you too.
The next day we drove through the hills and mountains of W. Virginia and Virginia (very pretty) and made it to our destination about 6pm. Sharon (Sherry's mom) greeted us and hung out a bit until Sherry & Mart made it home from the race. Then we enjoyed some pizza, checked out our digs for the next few days and the boys found all the non-childproofed areas of the home. The next day the guys did a little fishing and later checked out the MWR shop while Sherry, the boys and I relaxed and did the pumpkin patch. Brody slept the whole time, but Jacob and Lexi got a kick out of it! The next day the guys fished some more and we relaxed some more and checked out Sherry's beautiful store and the M's race shop. Brody (again) slept through it, but Jacob enjoyed looking at all the car stuff - it was cute. We loaded up on some gear to support our favorite driver and headed back to their home to carve pumpkins. That night Jill came over who I haven't seen in SOOO long (seriously, like 15 years maybe!). Just like Sherry, she is exactly how I remember her! It was just like old times :)
Wednesday morning we had breakfast, packed up and drove straight through back home. It took about 14hrs and I am thrilled to say the kids did fabulously, what a relief!

Glad the trip was a success! Yay! Minus the 3a.m. wake up alarm...ugh! LOVE the tum too! It's hard to believe you're in the 9wk home stretch already. Getting anxious? I'm excited for you!
