Jacob's Preschool dinner went great! I didn't really know what to expect so didn't bring my camera and I'm bummed! Before dinner they had a little program where the kids sang and danced to three songs and it was adorable. And surprisingly, Jacob wasn't too shy for it! He even moved his lips, although I doubt anyone could actually hear what he was signing! The dinner was fabulous and afterwards the kids played in the classroom which Brody LOVED! Brody is so, so jealous of preschool and throws a fit every time we pick up or drop off Jacob that he doesn't get to stay and play too. Tomorrow Aaron will go to school with Jacob as the parent helper and Brody and I'll run to the store to pick up a few things to make this for Thanksgiving.
My appointment today was pretty uneventful. Blood pressure was 110/70, I forget the weight gain, fundal height was 35-36cm and heart tones were 130's. I am kinda bummed that it doesn't look like we will be getting another ultrasound to check the size, but since baby Austin isn't measuring large (greater than 2cm over my weeks) I don't think we will. I suppose that is a good thing since typically ultrasounds are only ordered for problems and I should just be grateful this guy is measuring closer to average than Brody did. Doctor still thought it would be a bigger baby though, despite the measurements, and said that she'll let us induce no earlier than 39wks and would recommend we go no later than my due date if we want to wait it out. As she put it, my babies "walk down the hall to the cafeteria before the cord is cut" so we don't want him to go post-dates. But mostly she just left it at: "we'll see where we are in 2-4 weeks".
So, there you go. Aaron is pro-induction (which is strange because he is typically a "let nature takes it's course" type of guy). He has some financial incentives in mind, beyond the obvious tax deduction, he is scheduled to work and be on call New Years day (a Friday) through the following Friday. Which means #1, holiday pay $, #2, on call pay $ - easy money since we won't be going anywhere during that time anyhow - and #3, days off mid-week (to be at the hospital or home with me) without having to use paid time off. Also, Brody's birth was cake compared to Jacob's birth so he feels comfortable going against nature given our two experiences. Oh, and then there is the ease of handling childcare.
I have a lot of things on my mind. I agree with all Aaron's points... especially with how much easier Brody's birth was... the hours and hours of early labor with Jacob sucked. But I also think it's better for baby to come on their own. Of course, we could wait it out the 5 or whatever days just to end up inducing later anyway (which I am comfortable with... going post-dates scares the crap out of me). And, I really prefer my own doctor over the alternatives, so my best chance to ensure that is to be induced. Through writing this I think I've talked myself into it, another perk of a blog! So, I guess that is about it... just another 5-6 weeks and we will be a family of five!
PS - Julie, Charissa is 18wks (right, C?) with an early May edd!! Exciting stuff :)

How close to your due date were you with J and B? I might vote for the induction, esp. in your case.
Getting closer every day!
