Happy New Year!

We're home and our family is complete, what a way to start a new year :) Our hospital stay went really well, everybody there was so nice. Austin had to endure a bunch of heel pokes the first few hours after he was born to check the status of his blood sugar, I guess it can be a problem with 9lbs (or larger) babies, although gestational diabetes was never a concern for me. Thankfully they all came back over the 40 cutoff. Our first night went great, Austin slept a ton and our second night was so-so. Austin was up nursing quite a bit from midnight till 4 (way to ring in the new year!) and at that point the nurse brought me a pacifier to try to help the situation. He took the pacifier for about 30 minutes and then was only content sleeping on my chest. So that is what we did and I was able to sleep until 8am when his pediatrician came to get him for his circumcision. I jumped in the shower quickly while he was gone and was out in time to nurse him. So far his circ looks good and he has been sleeping most of the day (yes, I am nervous about tonight!). They didn't do a weight check when we left the hospital but at his 24hr exam he weighed 8lbs 13oz. Oh, and his bili count for jaundice came back at 6.0 so everything looks good there so far! I'm feeling really good for the most part, but the Tylenol and Motrin do help with the cramping, especially when I'm nursing.

The boys did great for mom, yeah! They are both pretty excited about their new brother. Jacob LOVES him and wants to hold him and kiss him all the time. He is great with Austin. Brody on the other hand... a nightmare. He is just way too rough and interested. I have a new appreciation for Jacob's lack of interest in Brody when we first brought Brody home from the hospital. I'm not sure how things are going to go over when Aaron has to go back to work because it's a challenge with even two of us at the moment. I'm sure we'll find a groove eventually but right now I'm so worried that Austin is going to get hurt.

Thanks to everyone for all the love and support!! And Happy 2010!!!
