My camera battery won't charge, so I attempted to take a photo with the phone. It's not too clear, so allow me to fill you in. After putting Brody down for a nap, I returned to THIS scene in my kitchen. Apparently, Jacob decided it was time for more OJ (bottom left) and filled his cup (bottom center) with juice. Once filled, he encountered the same problem as before with the counter, except this time he was filling his cup on the floor. As a well mannered boy, Jacob knew he couldn't just leave the mess, so he pulled a chair up to the counter and was retrieving paper towels to help clean up the mess. Lovely. So what else has my little Jacob been up to? He's saying funny things lately. When I ask him to do something, he will occasionally say "Of course!" Another favorite is "Don't worry". Like the other day Brody was crying after his nap and Aaron went to get him while Jacob and I played in his room. I said "Poor Brody" and Jacob replied, "Don't worry, Daddy is getting him". Another new word that I would prefer left his vocabulary is "huh?". He unfortunately says it a lot like Britney Spears, too. He also likes to add "Right Now!" after most of his sentences. Such as, "Juice please, RIGHT NOW!" (Maybe I should take him more seriously based on the pictures above).
Saturday, we celebrated Noah's 2nd Birthday at our house since Aaron was on call and couldn't get someone to cover it (Saturdays in December are not easy to get rid of). I don't have any pictures, darn camera :( It was a lot of fun though and the boys played together really well. Noah loved his birthday presents and both he and Jacob loved the cake, although neither one of them had any time for dinner. Mason and Brody were both very well behaved for the party and are both doing new things. Mason is giving some great smiles and talking and Brody has learned that if you open and close your mouth while talking, it sounds cool.
Brody has been sleeping terrible the past few weeks. I think it has to do with teething as he is now getting his 5th tooth in (top incisor, next to the front two). I'm convinced that we spend the first 6 months of our child's life explaining/guessing away his behavior as colic/reflux/swaddle issues and the last 6 months explaining every odd/difficult behavior as teething (or "Is he getting sick?"). Ah, the life and times of having a baby. I finally purchased some more Motrin (Again, See Jacob being naughty story below) and Brody finally had a good nights sleep Monday night, although he didn't go down until 11:30 :\ Unfortunately, last night was more of the same (3hr increments). Oh, also, Brody has another word! Mama! (or at least I think it qualifies!) I've got a video I'll download later!
It's been really fun getting ready for Christmas this year. Jacob is totally into it, although he is thoroughly confused with understanding Santa AND Jesus. Guess that is a few years off... Shopping has been a lot of fun this year, too. I think because I've had more time to go during the week, so I can avoid the craziness of the weekends. I think I've described on here before that one way I shop with the two kids is by bringing in my reusable shopping bag and filling it while I shop (so much easier to carry around than those baskets) and pushing them in the double stroller. It occurred to me this week how much the times have changed. Five years ago (shoot, two years ago), if I would have walked into a store with my own empty bag and just started placing items in it, can you imagine the looks I would get? Not to mention the label: SHOPLIFTER. And all the bothersome legal proceedings that would go along with that... but now, oh now people look at me and give me friendly smiles. My new label? Planet saver. Well, ok, there are probably some people who still think I'm shoplifting.
I've also been loving internet shopping this season too. I've found two great websites, one is www.slickfillers.net. Amazon currently has free shipping when you spend $25, so this site will let you know what items Amazon has for sale that will fill your cart to put you over the $25 mark. Genius! And the other one is ebates.com , it's a shopping site that gives you Cash Back every time you shop online (Target is 4%, not too bad), using their website as a portal (so go there, then click on target.com, etc.). There are tons of stores that participate including Gap, Target, Buy.com and Expedia. Plus you get additional savings with coupons and free shipping offers! If you sign up with Ebates through the link, we'll each get a $5 bonus when you make your first purchase! Of course, I didn't find this site until today and well, now I don't have any more shopping to do, so I won't even see my initial $5 :( But I'm excited to use it in the future!
In other Christmas news, I joined mom and Lisa at the Church yesterday for a Womens Christmas luncheon. It was so nice to just chat with the ladies and have a nice lunch (without the boys)!
Aaron's birthday is on Friday and we will be heading down to GR to go to a Griffins Game with Kim and Peggy. It will be interesting to see how long the boys will last through the game. Hopefully at least until 8pm, since Beers and Brats are only $1 till then! Then Saturday will be very chaotic and festive as we have our Family Christmas Party at Marnie's. Should be a fun weekend, let's hope the roads are decent for us!
