Surgery over!

I arrived at the surgery center at 10:45am and was back at my parents house by 2:30pm. They used general anesthesia which I was really nervous about and the anesthesiologist was like "well, I can talk to your doctor about something else?" but I said I trust you guys to go with what you recommend. Mask went on and I was out and next thing I know I was being wheeled into recovery and the nurse asked me how I liked my "spa day". My throat was super sore when I woke up (I have a cold) and I was a bit emotional and crying for no reason (but Aaron will tell you I'm like that, anyway!). The nurse said I was the fastest patient to come out of anesthesia all day and it didn't take much time at all before they put me in the second phase of recovery where I could visit with my mom. I ate some crackers, drank some juice and we were released. The doctor is way relaxed on my post operative instructions with guidelines of "activity as tolerated", so I'll guess we'll just see how this goes. Foot is still numb right now, but I'm taking my meds to stay on top of the pain. Hoping it isn't too bad when the numbness wears off.

My foot is bandaged and in a special shoe (way less intrusive than the boot I wear at night for plantar fasciitis). I keep the shoe and bandage on 24/7 until two weeks from tomorrow when I have the stitches removed. Showering is ok, but I have to keep the foot wrapped and dry.

The boys were with my in laws today and seem to be doing well. Tomorrow morning Aaron's mom will come out and Aaron will work in the morning then have the afternoon off to take Jacob to school and maybe visit me. My mom will head out there to watch the boys Wednesday, Aaron will be very busy that day working on a mass fish-tagging project (managing a crew for clipping fins off fish) and then Aaron will have Thursday and Friday off.

Ah! I forgot all about your surgery! Glad it went well. Hope it heals up quick and you're back at it asap.
