Our church did something different for Mother's Day this year and asked that...
So with a little help from my friend in the Netherlands again (thanks, Sarah!), this is what I contributed:
Today I am wearing the hat that my Mother wore in her wedding. When she told me of this project and asked me to wear it I immediately thought “there is no way I am putting that thing on” and offered to wear something a little less, well, less obvious. But after our conversation I started thinking about all of the “hats” my mother actually wears or has worn throughout my life and it didn't take long at all before I knew I would wear this hat today in honor of my Mom, Margaret Look.
You put on your nurses hat when I was sick.
You wore your thinking cap as my teacher and helped me to learn.
You wear a super hero hat (and sometimes even a cape) as a Grandma Extraordinaire.
You have hats for every occasion.
You're a nurturer.
You're a provider.
You're a comforter and a caregiver.
You are my friend, my marriage counselor and my financial advisor.
You are my role model.
So today, I am here proudly, wearing just one of the many hats that my Mother has worn.
I love you Mom.
Aaron got a hoot out of the marriage counselor and financial advisor line, but hey I didn't say she was a good one! Naaah, she is a good one because she listens to me complain a lot about silly marital spats and financial struggles. Anyways... thanks Mom!

For MY mothers day, I got to join Jacob at school for a mother's tea. It was very cute and all the little preschoolers served us some tea and then went off to play while the moms chatted and looked over some things the kids had made for us. One was a drawing, another was a cute card and the final thing was a little survey where the kids completed sentences about their moms. Here are some of Jacob's:
My mom's favorite food: Everything
My mom's favorite color: Black (I probably would have picked pink, but I probably wear black the most)
My mom's favorite song: The "ABC" Song (I'm always requesting this one from the DJ at the bar...)
My mom's favorite place to go: Florida (when I asked Jacob these questions again in the car he had most of the same answers except for this one, on the second try he said my favorite place to go is the Grocery store. You know, because the grocery store rocks and all... )
My mom's favorite thing to play: Wii with me
My mom loves to: Play on the computer
My mom's favorite book: Coloring books
I love my mom because: she's nice
Awwww, love that kid :)
Aaron and the boys treated me to a wonderful massage and a beautiful necklace with each of the boys' birthstones on it, you can see a similar one here.

I am so lucky to have such a wonderful daughter. I love you and thank you for a special mothers day.
Love Mom
Love hearing the things the little ones say. How cute to capture the answers to those questions. They are both funny and touching.
