Jacob is 4!!!

I can't believe I have a four year old! The lucky little one gets to celebrate it for three days in a row!

Yesterday was his official birthday so Aaron took the day off work (actually, he had a pass day from working on Sunday). We started off by all going in to town for lunch and a trip to Toys R Us. At Toys R Us Jacob received a crown and balloon and picked out his very own birthday present. This is what he selected and he loves it! He is such a good brother too, because after about 45 minutes of playing with it he handed it over to Brody and said "This is for you, too. We can share it." It was so sweet. My mom met up with us at Toys R Us and took the little boys home and Jacob, Aaron and I headed out for a little fun.

Our first stop was at Wilderness Crossing for some bowling. This was the first time Jacob has been bowling (besides Wii) and he was excited, but nervous! We had the whole place to ourselves, so it was nice. Jacob was in good company for his first time bowling, without divulging the exact scores, lets just say we were all within 10 points of each other ;) At first we had Jacob roll the pin down between his legs. 15 minutes later when the ball finally hit the pins, we called in the reinforcements and got the Dragon ramp to help give his ball the extra push so that our game ended before his 5th birthday. The ramp worked great, even though Jacob was a little unsure about it at first. He even got a strike and a few spares!

After the bowling alley we headed to play miniature golf. Jacob had a lot of practice at mini golf with Grandma in Florida (and twice since we've been home), so he showed Aaron and I how it's done. It was fun, except there were tons of tent caterpillars everywhere (are those a problem in other places, too?), so I was grossed out. Jacob was a good son though and pushed them out of my way with his golf club :)

We enjoyed some ice cream after our golf and went to the library to check out a few books. Jacob has been getting better about signing his name, so we got him his own library card! You can't quite make out his name though... the line where you need to sign is much smaller than he is used to.

We then came back home, had a quiet dinner and played outside until bedtime.

Today, Jacob celebrated his birthday at school. He wore a special crown all day and had a special birthday pin too. The class sang a birthday song just for Jacob and then they all ate some ice cream that I brought in. Jacob is still pretty quiet in class, but he now actively participates in everything - which makes me so proud and happy :) Aaron will be home soon and then we are off to Aaron's parents for a birthday celebration with the Switzers.

Tomorrow, we will have my parents and Mark, Lisa, Noah and Mason over for another birthday celebration - fun stuff!

Not only have I been a bad blogger lately, I've been a bad photographer too! I forgot my camera for bowling and for the school party, grrr! (Not to mention Mother's Day). I am going to make a good effort to get some pics of the rest of the festivities though!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Thanks for the b-day idea! I think I'll get that for Connor! No idea when I'll get to Target though! This isn't going to be the best week for b-day...ugh! I'll have to figure something out.
