36wk Ob Appt
Today we had our 36 week appointment which included the group b strep test and my first internal. Everything looks good, blood pressure was 112/70, no change in weight since 2 weeks ago and fundal height was 37cm. As far as the internal, I'm a fingertip dilated and soft. Doctor said that she wasn't sure if this baby was going to outweigh the other two, but that we could schedule an elective induction after 39wks. Our available days to choose are December 30th, December 31st or January 6th. I've talked myself into the induction because it is important to me to have my doctor, my experience with Brody was wonderful and it will make childcare arrangements for the boys so much easier. We're screwed with Aaron's schedule as far as holiday pay and on call, but that wasn't likely to work out very well anyway so we might as well get it covered now anyhow. January 6th is out for me because of the probability of going on my own before then is good, so it's either December 30th or the 31st. I've added a poll to the left and I would love to hear your input in the comments. On one hand I think the 31st would be a cool birthday and that is what I'm leaning towards, but it would make things expensive and difficult to try to plan fun things ON his birthday (as a kid or adult). The other issue is that it's a busy time of year for the L&D... a lot of inductions are scheduled then (women trying to have the "last" or "first" baby of the year, trying to get tax deductions in) and it will be a full moon also (on the 31st), so a lot of natural labors will be coming in. In addition, because of our touristy area L&D is more likely to be busy during a holiday. And if there is no room at the Inn because of the spontaneous deliveries, then I'm out of luck and would have to wait until the 6th or I go on my own, so the 30th would be safer but only very slightly. There is always the possibility that I could go on my own before either date, but for now I need to pick a date by my next appointment on Wednesday since these days fill up fast!

36 weeks! Yay!
Maybe you should schedule it later in the day on the 30th and then just hold him in till midnight! Then he'd have the cool birthday, you get the tax deduction and you are done before all the other 31st people get there!
My prediction is that you'll go on your own before then so it won't matter- Christmas baby!! :)
Let me see, Grandma has a party to go to New Year's Eve. Is Jacob to young to babysit Brody? So whatever date you choose will be fine, maybe Debby is right, a Christmas baby.
Okay I have decided that New Years Eve is best. If Austin comes on the 30th no one wants to party that night as they want to be rested for NYE so I will go with the 31st unless Austin decides to come on his own.
I say go for the 30th for two reasons: First, I picked that in your ExpectNet poll, LOL! Second, the whole tax deduction thing. If you go in on the 31st and don't actually give birth till after midnight, then no tax deduction. If you go in on the 30th and don't give birth till after midnight, it's still a 2009 baby ;-). Just my two cents. :-D
