Our travels went pretty well. We left our house at 8:19, stopped for breakfast and fuel along the way, and arrived at the airport just before 11am. The boys were SO excited the night before, they haven't been this excited for anything since Christmas! Jacob fell right asleep (shocking!) and Brody (who normally falls asleep very easily) couldn't fall asleep at all. I found him awake around 11 with his swim shirt on. When I asked him why he had it on he said "because we are going to go swimming in Florida!". We lost Austin for about 60 seconds in the airport, turns out he was job shadowing being a ticket agent, but other than that our check-in/security adventures were pretty uneventful. As I was walking through the airport I ran into one of the attorney's I used to work for who informed me that they too were headed to Florida for a romantic trip to celebrate their upcoming 40th Birthdays! How romantic! Unfortunately for them, their seat assignments were directly in front of us! I immediately offered to buy them copious amounts of shots/alcoholic beverages of choice but they assured me as parents of three, they completely understand and have nothing but sympathy for those traveling with young children. Thankfully, Austin chose to only torment them with kicking their seat mid-flight and saved the projectile vomit for right after we got off the plane! Hooray for me, I was super close to a trash can so I was able to contain most of the vomit with my body and beloved Bobber bear and the trash can so thankfully, I was not obligated to send a lovely bouquet of flowers to my old coworker. Love children or not, you can NOT let your child throw up on someone without some sort of compensation. Unfortunately, Bobber Bear did not survive the incident and was disposed of in a very brief, but heartfelt gate-side funeral. Austin argued for a moment, but I think was still feeling a tad queasy, so thankfully there wasn't a big scene at our final goodbye. You know, aside from the massive projectile vomit for several minutes, scurrying to find wipes, changing of clothes, yelling at older boys to stay close, fighting with your spouse over frustration, freaking out thinking you lost a child only to realize they are in the stroller you are currently pushing... yes... aside from all that there wasn't a major scene. I mean, it's Orlando after all. Surely they've seen worse.
Ok, so moving on... we made our way to the baggage claim and then picked up our rental which turned out to be upgraded to a minivan instead of an intermediate SUV, which was a huge relief because I was very concerned about trying to fit three car seats across the rear of our rental. Crisis averted, thank you Avis! We made our way to our hotel, which is the size of a small city, and were thrilled when they assigned us rooms RIGHT next to my brother and his family! We later discovered there WAS catch to our great rooms. We appear to be in the direct line of hole number 4 of the on-site golf course. So for only the majority of the day we have people who appear to be teeing off directly into our living room. Thankfully, no one has made contact yet... but there is plenty of glass outside our window to suggest that it is indeed a common occurrence!
First night went pretty well. We weren't initially sure where Austin would sleep but quickly figured it out. He expressed major interest in sharing the pull out couch with Brody (Jacob was in the King bed) but ultimately he would just not.go.to.sleep there, so we were forced to put him in the pack and play that we used to block the door to the outside (Ugh, block-off 2bed unit). He's quickly adusted to his new digs though and today he did not shed one tear for either nap time nor bed time.
The boys are loving their pool time with their cousins. Jacob has made MAJOR progress in the area of being splashed but still being cool about it. Mommy not so much, I was about ready to forcefully hold an 8yr olds head under water for aiming a cannon at myself and Austin for an extended period of time (side note: where the F were her parents?!) but the boys are doing AWESOME! Besides the pool they have a cool beach area, an indoor play maze, an arcade and a little lake for fishing and boating. Aaron purchased $80 worth of fishing equipment today, so there will be PLENTY of fishing to come. They also make very excellent slushy rum drinks and my very favorite after dinner drinks: mud slides ;) Brody is sure to be evicted soon. He's flashed his junk to ALL of our hotel in the past two days and then also shared his manhood with most of the Kissimmee Walmart today "but I had to go potty" Uh, okay... but in the Easter aisle? WWJD? He surely wouldn't expose his junk in the easter aisle and try to piss on his neighbor, Brodeur!!!!
Aaron has been fighting a stomach bug this evening (I'm assuming it is whatever Austin was fighting) so Mark, Lisa and family and I grilled out and enjoyed the BEST chicken kabobs ever! (And lets hope he keeps his virus to himself). Sooo, that is about all for now. The next few days will be very much rinse&repeat. Money is tight, so we decided that we'll probably head to Downtown disney for a day and get some ice cream and toys but we WON'T be heading to the magic Kingdom. I'm a little sad about it, but I KNOW the boys are having SUCH a blast with their cousins, so I don't feel too bad ;)
Let me see if I can get a few pics up....
