Memorial Weekend

A Mudslide gift basket for Mom's birthday, minus the alcohol! (Her birthday is on the 30th)

The boys playing in Elk River:
At the beach:
Jacob getting buried by Dad and Brody:
Brody hanging out while Aaron and Jacob fish in the background:
Aaron got this bass on the line and Jacob reeled her in:
Jacob and Grandpa fishing in the pond by their house:
This is the first fish that Jacob has caught from start to finish. He casted, waited for the fish to take the bait, set the hook and reeled it in all by himself! He was so proud :)
Nice Blue gill Jacob!!

We had a great Memorial weekend! The weather was crazy warm and sunny! There were tons of people swimming in the bay - I don't think I've ever seen that many people swimming this early in the season. We slept in on Saturday and then had a nice breakfast, completely forgetting about the Lowe's workshop which involved making a cool race car :( I was bummed once I remembered, but Jacob didn't even realize it so I guess its ok. Around lunch time we headed out for Elk Rapids for some fishing and playing at the beach and playground. The little boys fell asleep in the car on the way, so Aaron and Jacob fished while I sat in the car with the boys and read my book. After the boys woke up, Brody ran around for a bit while Aaron reeled in one more and then we went to the park. It was a lot of fun and surprisingly not too crowded! We then headed back south to town and ate dinner at a fast food joint and then walked over for some Moomers ice cream and more playing at a different playground.

Sunday we stayed around the house and grilled out - it was a very relaxing day!

Monday was my birthday so we went over to my parents house for some hot dogs, hamburgers and cake. Overall it was just a very chill, relaxing weekend.

I'm honored to share my birthday with Memorial Day this year. I love the Country we live in and I'm so grateful to those who fought for the things we have.
