We're home! Our car is home! This time our trip was much better! We had plenty of spare time on our drive down so we picked up our car from the shop and then parked it by the exit to pick up on our drive back home. The total cost came to almost $900 due to damages they came across while repairing it. It sucks, but what are you going to do? It happens... hopefully the car runs perfectly smooth now for many more miles!
Our sonogram went perfectly. We arrived right at 11 (there was a bit of construction) and our technician was waiting for us at the desk, so we didn't even have to sit down! Aaron wants ALL of our ob appointments to happen there, but I pointed out to him the waiting room FULL of people and said the ultrasound technicians are probably much more prompt then the doctors! So back to the room we went to get started. Our technician was awesome this time (last time the girl was a little cranky and uninformative). First thing she did was check the gestational age and my heart dropped when I saw it come up as 13w5d since I knew they don't do the scans past 13w3d. I asked her if we would still be able to do things and she said that the gestational age doesn't matter as much as the length and the length is still within their limits! Phew! So after I relaxed about that I realized holy cow, the baby has grown a ton! Last time we saw the baby it appeared to be a grain of rice and now it looked like a baby! Well, an alien-like baby... but still a baby! I also couldn't believe how much catching up the baby did. My last u/s the baby measured about 2 days behind and today the baby measured about 5 days ahead! The nuchal fold measurements all came back good at about 1.9 or less, anything under 2.5 is great. The baby was laying on it's side the entire time with it's head on my left hip and buns on my right hip. Placenta is posterior, which is great because with Brody it was anterior and that made feeling movement harder. Heartrate sounded perfect at about 167bpm. Afterwards we met with the doctor who informed us that by the time we have the next baby, we will be able to have this test done right in Traverse City... to which Aaron said "Next baby? Oh no..." and then gave him the universal sign for "vasectomy" and we all laughed. Then I had a quick blood draw and we were off to lunch and home.
We arrived home about 3:30 and Aaron discovered some trapped baby ducks on a bike ride with Jacob. So we (Aaron) went to save them and I took a video, I'll try to upload it tonight. He saved three tiny ducklings, yeah!
