Hooray for Winter!

Despite quite a few attempts by Mother Nature to ruin it with freezing rain, we're actually are having a pretty good winter!  And, Jacob has had enough snow days to prove it - 10!  At this rate his last day of school will be Monday, June 17th but we all know that March is likely to bring another heavy snow (or maybe even another one yet in February) so he probably will be going to school well into that week - we'll see!  It's SO pretty though and SO good for the area, which relies as much on winter tourism almost as much as it does summer.   It's been a couple of years since Aaron and I have fallen asleep to the sound of snowmobiles buzzing back and forth outside our window and I'm glad its back!  I just wish we had some snow shoes to really enjoy it, but I think the kids are a little young for that yet and I DON'T want to carry Austin - so we'll wait.  We have enjoyed skiing at Crystal a few times thanks mostly to mom and a few times to the in laws.

The river in front of our house:

Snowy walk down to the "waterfall" - since the weir is out during the winter, there is no waterfall right now.  But it doesn't stop the kids from calling it that ;)

Jacob's 100th day of school project - wear 100 of something on your shirt/hat/socks, so we did safety pin beads!  With all the snow days he won't celebrate the 100th day until Monday the 25th, though!

Aaron's winter project:  New tile floors in the bathrooms and laundry room.  It went fairly well and I only had to threaten divorce once.  Is it weird the new floors have me excited to do laundry?

You can hardly see the tops of these pine trees!

This is how much of the fence across from Jacob's school that you can see today:

And this is what it looked like one week ago (to the right):

Another view of the fence (on the right) from last week - and this week you can barely find those trees in front of it!
