A few more Summer Beach Pics...

Austin discovered the Napa Toyota does well in the sand, too:

A lot of times the storms will form over land... this was one of those days. It was beautiful at the beach, but the sky sure did look ugly inland:

More dark skies:

Jacob rarely slows down at the beach:

We frequently see Deer, foxes & bald eagles either at the beach or on the drive to the beach. Here is a mom and fawn to the left of momma:

Summer Pics: Sherry & Martin's visit & the race

We saw 4 bald eagles while they were here.  Here is one of them!

On Saturday, the girls (my mom, Sherry, Sherry's mom (Sharon) and myself) went to visit the beautiufl Sleeping Bear Dunes in the morning, had a great lunch of fish tacos & Oberon on the deck of the Cove in Leland and then took flight to Jackson for the race on Sunday with these amazing views.  To say it was a good day is a bit of an understatement :)
This pic is of East Grand Traverse Bay, you can see Elk Lake, Torch Lake and Lake Skegemog in the distance...

Final Summer Recap :sigh:

Sorry for the delay in blogging, I'm attempting to get caught up this week.  I originally started this post weeks ago...

Well, it's after Labor Day, school has started and the low temperature the past two days has been 39 degrees and the heat has already kicked on in our house.  I guess it's time to do a final summer recap.

Early August the boys and I attended a Wolverton Family Reunion in Grand Haven.  We had a great time and it was good to see everyone briefly!  I didn't take any photos since I had my hands full enough (Aaron was trying to make some extra money by building a pergola for his parents).

The week of the 14th Sharon, Sherry & Martin were in town and we had great weather so we spent lots of time at the beach and in the water and eating lots of yummy food.  That Saturday we flew down to Jackson for the race with Sherry & Sharon and were able to take some more amazing photos!  The view is so incredible from the plane!  We were thrilled to be able to stay at Kim & Peggy's house in Ann Arbor, but sad they couldn't be there with us (a certain adorable baby in Illinois was being baptized)!  When we first learned Kim and Peg would be moving to A2, we were a little sad the were leaving their lake house South of Grand Rapids.  They quickly redeemed themselves by finding a nice place, close to town and only 40 minutes from the race track!  The next morning we got up early and headed to the race track around 8am for the race.  Martin struggled with his car all race, either plowing or being loose, but we still enjoyed being in the middle of it all and he pulled one heck of a comeback by coming in 2nd the following weekend!!  We've been so fortunate to have attended 3 nascar races this year and are so thankful to Martin and Sherry for the first class treatment.  And, a huge thanks to mom and Bruce for watching the 3 little goofs.  It's so nice to be away and not be worried about how the kiddos are doing!

The weekend of the 27th Kerry, Colin and Jackson came up for a visit!  We went out to Crystal Mountain to feed the fish at the trout pond and then we took a few rides on the Crystal Coaster!  My boys are a little more cautious than most (totally my fault) and I knew there was no way that MY boys would be going down that slide.  But, both Colin and Jackson wanted to go so I had to go with them and to be honest, I was a little nervous.  We took the chairlift up and enjoyed the views (very different perspective in the summer!) and then had a blast coming down.  Once we got back down, Aaron had decided that he needed to try it out and shockingly, my boys both wanted to try it to.  They did awesome riding the chairlift and had no fear at all hoping on the slide and heading down!   I think all four boys wanted to go again (and again...), but we headed back for some pizza.  The next day, Kerry and her boys went to Great Wolf Lodge for an overnight stay and the boys and I joined them for a little dinner and fun at the water park.  It was a fun, quick stay and we can't wait to do it again!

We started off summer with the Bradys, we wanted to end it that way too... Labor day weekend we made a quick trip down to Ludington to visit the Debby and her family!  Brody really, really loves Robert and has been talking about him nonstop since our Memorial Weekend Trip.  The older guys got some fishing in while Debby, Kathy (Deb's mom) and I tried our best not to lose any kids in the town/marina/hotel/park/store areas of ludington.  We all succeeded - We made it home with 5 kids and 3 fish!   Sure wish we lived closer so we could spend more time together!!
